Эдди Кэхилл родился в Нью-Йорке в 1978 году. У него есть еще старший брат и младшая сестра. У Эдди итальянские и ирландские корни . В 1996 году он закончил школу Байрам Хай Хилс в Армонке , Нью -Йорк .

В 2000 году он впервые вышел на сцену в спектакле «Альтруист» ( The Altruists). Впервые на телевидении он появился в сериале «Секс в Большом городе» ( Sex and the City). Прорывом была роль помощника Рэйчел в сериале «Друзья» ( Friends), которую он сыграл в октябре 2000 года.

Он так же снимался в эпизодах сериалов «Зачарованные» ( Charmed), «Закон и порядок» ( Law & Order: Special Victims Unit).

В 2001 году Эдди заключил контракт с « WB Network» на создание своего собственного шоу. В 2002 году оно вышло в эфир, но, несмотря на высокие рейтинги, долго не продержалось. Эдди не стал унывать . Он успел снятся в таких сериалах как «Загнанный» ( Haunted) и «Бухта Доусона» ( Dawson' s Creek).

В 2004 году он снялся в диснеевском фильме «Чудо» ( Miracle), сыграв героя своего детства – Джима Крейга. В 2005 году он снялся в фильме «Короли Догтауна» ( Lords of Dogtown).

Так же в 2004 году его пригласили на роль детектива Дона Флэка в сериале « CSI: Место преступления Нью-Йорк».
